Registration for 2012 Opens in May — Here is a recap of the
2011 Swim!
The 20th Annual Hudson River Swim For Life which was held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 attracted swimmers of all ages and abilities but they all have one thing in common: they swam to raise money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
This year the event attracted 183 swimmers, 90 kayakers, 25 support
vessels, and 80 volunteers. The impact of Hurricane Irene unfortunately cancelled the 3 mile crossing this year. All swimmers took part in the 1 mile swim course that ran parallel to the Sleepy Hollow shore line. Swimmers of all abilities were represented - highly trained competitive swimmers, experienced open water athletes and recreational swimmers all took part.
Thanks to the efforts of many an amazing $168,000 was raised for the fight against blood cancer. Over $35,000 alone was raised by our 15 Team In Training (TNT) swimmers who trained and fundraised throughout the summer together.
Thank you to all the swimmers, kay
akers, boaters, volunteers, and Swim Planning
Committee members who played a huge part in making The Hudson River Swim For Life a safe and successful event again this year.
